President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. personally visited the wake of National Artist for Film and Broadcast Nora Aunor on Monday, April 21, at Heritage Park in Taguig City. He was joined by First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos.
Nora Aunor, fondly known as the “Superstar,” passed away on April 16 due to acute respiratory failure. She was 71. Her interment is scheduled for April 22.
President Marcos previously lauded Aunor’s legacy, calling her body of work an invaluable part of the country’s cultural heritage.
Senator Imee Marcos also paid tribute to Aunor, highlighting her role in the critically acclaimed 1982 film Himala. Hanggang ngayon himala pa rin sa ating lahat,” she said.
In the Senate, Senator Bong Revilla filed Resolution No. 1339, expressing condolences and recognizing Aunor’s enduring impact on Philippine cinema and culture.
