President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has emphasized the significance of cardiovascular health, urging Filipinos to prioritize self-care during the month of hearts.
In a video shared on social media, President Marcos Jr. stated, “Ang bagong Pilipino ay mas maalaga sa kanyang kalusugan. Kaya’t ngayong mga buwan ng mga puso, ipagdiwang natin ang pagmamahal sa ating mga sarili” (The new Filipino is more attentive to his health. So, during the months of hearts, let us celebrate love for ourselves).
The video showcased the President engaging in various physical exercises, underscoring the importance of taking care of one’s heart. He also injected humor into his message, particularly targeting single individuals. “Alagaan natin ang ating mga puso dahil wala nang ibang mag-aalaga diyan kung hindi ikaw lang – lalo na kung single ka” (Let’s take care of our hearts because there’s no one else who will take care of it but you – especially if you’re single), Marcos remarked.
Moreover, the video highlighted a montage of Filipino celebrity couples who recently parted ways, reinforcing the President’s call for self-care and attention to heart health.
The declaration of February as “Philippine Heart Month” has historical roots, with former President Ferdinand Marcos Sr., the incumbent’s father, having made the declaration, as documented by the Official Gazette.
