President Marcos Jr. to embark on state visit to India, marking 75 years of diplomatic ties

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. is set to undertake a five-day state visit to India from August 4 to 8, 2025, upon the invitation of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Presidential Communications Office announced on July 31.

The official visit aims to bolster bilateral relations between the Philippines and India as both nations mark the 75th anniversary of the establishment of their diplomatic ties this year.

According to the statement, President Marcos Jr. will first engage in official meetings and events in New Delhi before traveling to Bangalore, where he and his delegation will continue high-level engagements. “He will meet with the business sectors in both cities,” the release noted, indicating a strong focus on economic cooperation and investment.

In addition to formal meetings, President Marcos Jr. is expected to connect with the Filipino community in India. “The President will also have a meet and greet with the Filipino Community in New Delhi,” the statement confirmed, emphasizing the administration’s continuing commitment to overseas Filipinos.

This marks the first time in nearly two decades that a Philippine president will visit India. The last state visit was made by then President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo in October 2007. In a reciprocal move, former Indian President Ram Nath Kovind visited the Philippines in October 2019.
