President Marcos calls on Filipinos to rise with hope in Easter Sunday message

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. called on Filipinos to translate their faith into action in his Easter Sunday message issued on April 20, 2025, emphasizing the power of hope, compassion, and unity in building a better Philippines.

In a statement released by Malacañang, the President described Easter as “not just a celebration filled with hope and aspiration for a better tomorrow,” but a reminder of the triumph of life over death and light over darkness. He urged the public to view the Resurrection as more than just a religious observance, but as a call to rise from personal and societal challenges.

“The Resurrection is not just a moment to celebrate, it is a call to action,” Marcos wrote. “The risen Christ does not rise alone. He invites us to rise with Him—through policies that heal, through laws that protect, and through governance that leaves no one behind.”

The President stressed the importance of taking concrete steps to help those burdened by debt, hunger, and silence, echoing Christ’s message of compassion and solidarity. He also called for the building of a “Bagong Pilipinas” grounded in faith, collective effort, and inclusive governance.

“We must rise—not merely in belief, but in deeds, and not only in prayer, but in action,” he added. “The stone has been rolled away. We are now exposed not just to boundless possibilities, but also to the knowledge that we, too, can make a difference.”

Marcos ended the message by extending his Easter greetings to all Filipinos, saying, “Together with the faithful, I greet everyone with the fierce, uncontainable joy of the Resurrection. Maligayang Pasko ng Pagkabuhay!”
