President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. delivered an important message to newly elected village (Barangay) and youth (SK) officials on Tuesday, emphasizing the significance of honesty in public service. In his social media address, Marcos stressed the importance of prioritizing the welfare of the people, as they are the driving reason behind serving the nation.
“Always put the welfare of our countrymen first, as they are the reason we desire to serve the nation,” the President stated.
Marcos conveyed hope for a unified effort to progress towards a new Philippines, envisioning peaceful, happy, and prosperous villages where unity, understanding, and prosperity reign, and where every citizen takes pride in being Filipino.
Citing the Commission on Elections chairman, George Erwin Garcia, the president acknowledged that the recent elections were largely peaceful. However, he did note reports of election-related violence in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.
Highlighting the significance of the recently concluded polls, Marcos said, “We witnessed a successful and peaceful village and Sanggunian Kabataan election. Your roles in our society are very crucial.”
He further added, “This is another opportunity to serve Filipinos and our country with all our heart and to the best of our abilities.”
It’s notable that this was the first village and youth officials election since May 2018.
