A Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) watcher was arrested on Sunday for allegedly leaking official exam materials during the licensure examination for teachers, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) said, as reported by Philippine Star.
NBI Regional Director Arcelito Albao identified the suspect as Franklin Anota Jr., a senior high school teacher, who was caught taking photos of test questionnaires and transmitting them to an unidentified review center.
According to the NBI, Anota admitted to photographing and forwarding the materials in exchange for money. He is facing inquest proceedings for violations of the PRC Modernization Act of 2000 as amended by Republic Act 9416, which penalizes exam-related fraud and irregularities; penalties include six to 12 years’ imprisonment and fines from ₱50,000 to ₱100,000.
Investigators are also assessing possible charges under the Revised Penal Code involving fraud and falsification. The NBI said it is coordinating with the PRC and the Philippine National Police to identify the review center involved and any accomplices.
