Pope Francis is set to inaugurate the “Faith Pavilion” in Expo City, Dubai, during his visit for the COP28 climate conference on December 3. The Holy See Press Office announced that the Pope will deliver a greeting at the event.
The Faith Pavilion, a first in the history of the UN’s climate change conferences, is designed to be a center for faith-driven climate action and peace promotion. This initiative is a collaboration between the Muslim Council of Elders (MCE), the COP28 Presidency, the United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP), the Holy See, and various faith partners.
Pope Francis’s visit to the UAE begins on December 1, with a welcome ceremony planned upon his arrival. On December 2, he will address the summit participants and engage in private meetings.
The visit concludes with a farewell ceremony post-inauguration, after which the Pope will return to Rome.
