Pope Francis appoints Bohol-born priest to lead mission in Tuvalu

Pope Francis has appointed Reverend Fr. Eliseo Napiere, originally from Bohol and currently based in the United States, as an ecclesiastical superior in Tuvalu’s capital. The Holy See Press Office announced on Monday that Fr. Napiere will head the “Missio sui iuris,” an independent mission in Funafati, located in the west-central Pacific Ocean.

Before this appointment, Fr. Napiere was a member of the Presbyteral Council and served as the parish priest of Saint James the Less in Perris, within the diocese of San Bernardino, California. His previous roles in the Philippines included serving as parish vicar of the Blessed Sacrament Parish in Cebu City from 1991 to 1992, and as the scholastic director and procurator of the Fil-Mission Seminary in Tagaytay City from 1992 to 1994. He also held various parish positions in Taiwan and the United States.
