Joanna Buniel, a Polish woman, has chosen to live a simple life in the province of Surigao del Sur, alongside the Filipino man who captured her heart. According to a report by Dapat Alam Mo, Joanna takes on household chores such as shopping, cooking, gardening, and laundry.
Joanna’s husband, Glen, is overjoyed and grateful that she has fully embraced Filipino culture and is not fussy about the simple way of life. The couple met online in 2017 and eventually became friends, which later blossomed into a romantic relationship. In 2018, Joanna visited the Philippines, and a year later, they tied the knot in the country.
“Life is more simple. I have more time to spend with my family, with my friends,” said Joanna when asked about her decision to settle in the Philippines.
Glen initially had concerns about how Joanna would adapt to their different backgrounds and cultures. He admits, “I used to wonder how she would fit in, coming from such different backgrounds.” However, he’s thankful that she has embraced the simple provincial lifestyle and culture.
The couple now has two children, and Glen hopes their kids will also learn about Joanna’s culture. Joanna emphasizes that a person’s country of origin is not important; what truly matters are their personality and principles.
“We want to change how people view foreigners. Foreigners can live a simple life in the province too,” added Joanna.
