Police launch global manhunt for suspect accused of burning baby with hot coffee

Australian police have launched a global search for a man accused of pouring hot coffee on a nine-month-old baby during a family picnic in Brisbane, leaving the infant with severe burns. The incident, which occurred in late August, has been described as “the most cowardly” crime by Queensland Police Detective Paul Dalton.

The 33-year-old suspect, believed to be an itinerant worker, fled the country days after the attack. Police say the baby suffered significant burns to the face and limbs and required multiple surgeries.

Authorities have yet to determine the man’s motive, as he had no known connection to the family. He is now believed to be in a foreign country, with police refraining from disclosing his whereabouts to avoid jeopardizing the investigation.

Dalton emphasized the determination of law enforcement to bring the suspect to justice, saying, “We will keep going until we find you.” The suspect faces charges of intending to cause grave bodily harm, which could lead to life imprisonment if convicted.
