A buy-bust operation in Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao del Norte, ended in bloodshed after a father and his son—both considered high-value drug suspects—were killed in a gunfight with police, according to a report from GMA Regional TV One Mindanao.
Authorities said the operation turned deadly when the suspects allegedly opened fire upon realizing they were transacting with undercover officers. Police returned fire, resulting in the deaths of the father and one of his sons. Another son, aged 18, was arrested at the scene, while a fourth family member managed to escape and is now being hunted by authorities.
Seized during the operation were 240 grams of suspected shabu, with an estimated street value of over ₱1.6 million, along with two firearms and several magazines.
The arrested suspect will face charges for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act (RA 9165), while the manhunt for the fleeing son continues.
