The Bureau of Immigration (BI) has successfully deported American national Lee O’Brian for violating work permit regulations. Last year, Filipino comedian Marietta Subong, famously known as Pokwang, filed a deportation case against O’Brian, accusing him of working without the necessary permits.
Subong claimed that O’Brian engaged in employment across various production companies without obtaining the required Department of Labor and Employment and BI permits. The BI investigated the complaint and found merit in it, leading to O’Brian’s deportation in December for breaching the conditions of his stay.
Despite filing a motion for reconsideration, O’Brian’s appeal was denied, and the BI proceeded with his deportation. BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco confirmed that O’Brian was deported on the evening of April 8 via a Philippine Airlines flight bound for San Francisco.
Following his deportation, O’Brian’s name has been added to the BI’s blacklist, preventing any future attempts to re-enter the Philippines.
