The Philippine National Police (PNP) has established specialized teams, consisting of top investigators, to locate those who harbored televangelist Apollo Quiboloy, who is facing charges related to child abuse and trafficking. Quiboloy was apprehended earlier this month during a significant police raid at his group’s compound in Davao City.
In addition to pursuing Quiboloy’s supporters, the PNP will also focus on former presidential spokesperson Harry Roque, who is under a detention order from the House of Representatives. Roque was cited for contempt last week for failing to provide documents relevant to investigations into illegal offshore gaming hubs and drug activities. Roque has disputed the “fugitive” label, stating he would only comply with a Supreme Court directive.
PNP Chief Police Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil emphasized that operations against Quiboloy’s coddlers and Roque will be conducted efficiently and lawfully. The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), led by Director Leo Francisco, has also formed a composite team to build a case against those who aided Quiboloy in evading arrest since April.
