Four young Filipino science whizzes made the country proud after clinching one silver and three bronze medals at the 57th International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO) held in Dubai from July 5 to 14, 2025.
Leading the winning team was Mohammad Nur G. Casib from the Philippine Science High School (PSHS) – Central Mindanao Campus, who secured the lone silver medal for the Philippines.
Earning bronze medals were Kyush Cian G. Cabilino, Ogden Michael B. Javier, and Rex Alphonse Reventar—all hailing from the PSHS Main Campus.
The Department of Science and Technology – Philippine Science High School System celebrated the group’s triumph, lauding the students’ dedication, intelligence, and perseverance in competing against the best of the world.
This victory was made possible with the help of top-tier mentors from partner universities, including De La Salle University, Ateneo de Manila University, West Visayas State University, and the University of the Philippines Diliman, as well as support from school coaches and families.
Held annually, the International Chemistry Olympiad brings together the most brilliant high school students from across the globe to test their knowledge and problem-solving skills in chemistry. This year’s competition brought additional pride as the host city, Dubai, welcomed participants from dozens of countries.
