Pinoy high school students create a machine that turns plastic bottles into electricity

A group of Grade 10 students from Parang High School has developed a machine that converts plastic bottles into electricity. Dubbed the “trash-bot,” this innovative project was created by students John Apolinar, Tristan Caneta, and Alfred Obrero.

The machine, powered by solar panels, features ultrasonic sensors to detect bottles and can process up to three plastic bottles at a time. Each bottle provides five minutes of charging capacity, according to a Game Changer report in “24 Oras”.

The trash-bot was recognized as a finalist in the Regional Science and Technology Fair under the Science Innovation Category. The team aims to improve the machine’s durability and efficiency to promote proper waste management.

“Our goal is to enhance the trash-bot and make it more robust,” said Caneta. Obrero added, “This project is also intended to encourage proper waste management.”
