Pinay domestic helper shocks social media with claims of P1 million savings and multiple assets

A domestic helper in Malaysia has gone viral after proudly sharing the fruits of her hard work as an overseas Filipino worker (OFW), sparking both admiration and doubt from netizens. Her story was posted on the Facebook page “Peso Sense,” according to a report by Bandera.

In her post, the 33-year-old widow revealed that despite her modest salary, she managed to acquire significant assets over her seven years abroad. “Ang sarap pala sa feeling mga mhie no, yung mga kapitbahay mo magtataka kung papano mo nagawa na ang isang katulong lang dito sa Malaysia ay madami ng napundar,” she wrote.

The OFW said she now owns five parcels of land, two rental properties, a tricycle, and a two-story house. On top of these, she has also saved around ₱1 million. She credited her achievements to discipline and wise financial decisions, stressing, “Payo ko s mga katulong lang na isang tulad ko, invest first before spending. Kahit maliit lng ang sahod natin kung marunong tayo lalaki din yan.”

Her testimony drew a wave of comments—some expressing admiration, others casting doubt. One commenter admitted envy, saying they had worked for years abroad without savings, while another insisted it was nearly impossible to amass such wealth with a helper’s wage. Others, however, echoed her advice on saving and investing, affirming that financial discipline is key no matter how small the income.
