The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) has named Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach as its newest ambassador, spotlighting her dedication to promoting OFW welfare across the globe.
Now based in Dubai with her husband, entrepreneur Jeremy Jauncey, Wurtzbach recently flew to Saudi Arabia to connect with Filipino migrant workers. Her visit highlighted not only her support for the OFW community but also her continued advocacy for health and wellness.
“Always a privilege to serve our fellow Filipinos abroad,” Wurtzbach wrote on Instagram, sharing moments from her trip.
Long associated with HIV awareness group LoveYourself, Wurtzbach took the opportunity to encourage open conversations around health among overseas Filipinos. She also urged them to apply for their OWWA e-cards, which unlock access to government assistance and benefits.
In a playful nudge to followers, OWWA posted: “Si Pia nga, may OWWA e-Card na…Ikaw, papahuli ka ba?”
Beyond her beauty queen title, Wurtzbach continues to amplify voices through her advocacy work, from women’s rights to environmental campaigns. Just last year, she auctioned off some of her pageant memorabilia to fund LoveYourself’s new youth center—proving that her reign of purpose continues long after the crown.
