Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) returning or departing the country can now conveniently enroll in the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) at the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) offices nationwide.
This initiative stems from a memorandum of agreement (MOA) signed between the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) and DMW. The collaboration seeks to offer easier PhilSys registration services to OFWs.
National Statistician Claire Dennis S. Mapa revealed that this MOA allows the PSA to establish service points not only at the DMW headquarters in Mandaluyong but also its sub-departments, agencies, regional offices, and one-stop service centers for OFWs across the Philippines.
These colocation sites will enable OFWs to register for PhilSys, access their ePhilID, seek guidance from personnel of both PSA and DMW, and acquire information materials about PhilSys.
Expressing gratitude, Mapa stated, “On behalf of the PSA, I thank the DMW for making PhilSys services more reachable to our OFWs.” He emphasized the aspiration to register more OFWs and provide them the numerous advantages of being PhilSys-registered.
The MOA was formally signed by Mapa and Migrant Workers Secretary Maria Susana V. Qple. Also present during the signing were Migrant Workers Undersecretary for Finance and Internal Management Maria Anthanette C. Velasco-Allones and PhilSys Registry Office (PRO) Officer-in-Charge Deputy National Statistician Fred S. Sollesta.
This PSA-DMW partnership is pivotal in the broader mission to achieve comprehensive PhilSys registration for all Filipinos. As of July 28, a commendable 80,194,464 Filipinos are already registered in PhilSys.
