During President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s visit to the UAE, a memorandum of understanding (MOU) was signed to enhance cultural cooperation between the two nations. The agreement, witnessed by First Lady Louise “Liza” Araneta-Marcos, aims to deepen collaboration in preserving and promoting cultural heritage.
The MOU, forged between the Philippines’ National Commission for Culture and the Arts and the UAE’s Ministry of Culture, reflects a shared commitment to celebrating artistic and historical treasures.
“I’m truly thankful for the UAE’s support, from restoring landmarks like Intramuros to showcasing Filipino artistry in Abu Dhabi. This partnership ensures our heritage shines globally,” the First Lady shared.
Mrs. Marcos also discussed cultural preservation and the arts with Sheikh Salem bin Khalid Al Qassimi, UAE’s Minister of Culture, highlighting a mutual dedication to heritage and creativity.
She further expressed gratitude after meeting with Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, commending her efforts to uplift women and preserve cultural traditions through art.
“This collaboration aligns with the vision for a ‘Bagong Pilipinas,’ where arts and culture play a vital role in defining our national identity,” Mrs. Marcos said, emphasizing the importance of cultural ties in bringing people together.
