Filipina tennis player Tennielle Madis and her Russian partner Vlada Guryleva triumphed in the girls’ doubles final of the UAE ITF Juniors at TopSpin Sports Center in Dubai, securing a straight-set victory over second-seeded duo Pavla Sviglerova of the Czech Republic and Inka Wawrzkiewicz of Poland, 6-4, 6-4, on Saturday.
According to a PNA report, the top-seeded pair demonstrated dominance throughout the tournament, dispatching Poland’s Olivia Cela and Kornelia Krzesniak (6-2, 6-4) in the opening round, followed by a commanding win over China’s Yuhan Chen and India’s Diya Ramesh (6-0, 6-2). In the semifinals, they overcame Russia’s Anastasia Efremova and Alena Kharchenko (6-4, 6-3) to book their spot in the championship match.
Madis credited her victory to teamwork, emphasizing her strong partnership with Guryleva. “Without my partner, I wouldn’t have achieved this. Teamwork and communication made us win,” she shared.
This marks Madis’ second doubles title in the UAE this season, following her earlier success in Fujairah with South Korea’s Ui Su Jeong.
Her coach, Robert Angelo, a former Davis Cup player and SEA Games medalist, commended her performance but stressed the need for continued exposure. “Tenny has the talent. She needs to compete in bigger tournaments to refine her skills,” he noted.
At just 17, Madis has built an impressive record, securing six singles and five doubles titles last year, including four doubles championships alongside fellow Philippine Tennis Academy player Stefi Marithe Aludo in international J60 events.
