The Philippines secured two prestigious accolades at the Diving, Resort, and Travel Show Beijing 2024, winning the Best Tourism Promotion Partnership award and the Best Diving Destination award. The country’s participation was spearheaded by the Office of the Philippine Department of Tourism in Beijing (PDOT-Beijing), focusing on advancing the diving industry in the Asia Pacific and promoting marine conservation.
Philippine Ambassador Jaime FlorCruz highlighted the significant economic impact of dive tourism, noting that it contributed over P73 billion to the Philippine economy in 2023, doubling the previous year’s revenue. FlorCruz emphasized the country’s commitment to positioning itself as the “World’s Premier Dive Destination.”
Twelve dive shops, resorts, and liveaboards from the Philippines participated in the event, generating considerable sales leads. PDOT-Beijing Assistant Tourism Attaché Ernesto Teston and Philippine Tourism Promotions Board’s North Asia Division Head, Sheena Anjeli Botiwey, introduced the top dive spots and companies from the Philippines to potential Chinese partners.
