Philippines ranks high in global bidet usage, according to study

A recent study by British bathroom supplies company QS Supplies has revealed that the Philippines is among the top users of bidets globally. The research was conducted using data from thousands of listings on travel website Booking.com.

The findings show that nearly 53% of rental accommodations in the Philippines are equipped with a bidet, placing the country fourth worldwide. Italy leads the chart with a staggering 76.28% of accommodations having bidets.

In terms of showers, the Philippines ranked 37th with a percentage of 70.42%. The leader in this category is Cambodia, boasting an 89.57% presence of showers in rental accommodations.

Conversely, when it comes to bathtubs, the Philippines stands lower at 54th place, with only 17.88% of rental accommodations featuring one. This lower ranking is attributed to the preference for showers over bathtubs in the country.

Of note, five Philippine cities – Quezon City, Manila, Davao City, Cebu, and Cagayan de Oro – were highlighted in the study. Quezon City topped the list for the most bidets in the country at 60%. In contrast, Cebu led in shower accommodations with a rate of 72.40%. For bathtubs, Davao City led the charge with 17.80%, while Cagayan de Oro had the fewest at 12.81%.
