The Philippines has secured its position as the preeminent dive spot in Asia, clinching the “Asia’s Leading Dive Destination” accolade for the fifth consecutive year at the prestigious World Travel Awards (WTA) Asia & Oceania Gala Ceremony 2023.
The unbroken streak of victories began in 2019, showcasing the Philippines’ vibrant marine biodiversity and pristine diving spots that have continually charmed divers from around the world, despite stiff competition from other renowned diving destinations including Malaysia, Indonesia, and Thailand.
The Department of Tourism (DOT) revealed this honor on Thursday, emphasizing that this recognition mirrors the Philippines’ steadfast dedication to nurturing sustainable tourism and its fruitful collaboration with industry stakeholders.
DOT chief Christina Garcia Frasco shared her pride in the achievement, noting it as a testament to the “unparalleled beauty and mega biodiversity” of the Philippines that is cherished by divers and tourists globally.
“From our ridges to our reefs, you will never run out of reasons to love the Philippines,” expressed Frasco, encouraging more people to explore the unique underwater panoramas that the country has to offer.
