Auro Chocolate’s partner, the Saloy Organic Farmers Association (SOFA), has been honored as one of the Top 50 Best Cacao Producers in the world. This distinction was awarded by the prestigious international Cacao of Excellence Awards.
SOFA, representing the Philippines, was chosen from an impressive list of 222 entries from 52 cacao origins worldwide. This recognition highlights the quality and excellence of Filipino cacao beans on the global stage.
Located in Saloy, Davao, SOFA has been an integral part of Auro Chocolate’s supply chain since 2015, under the Organic Conversion Program initiated by Auro in 2021. This partnership focuses on sustainable and organic agricultural practices, contributing significantly to the high quality of the cacao beans.
This year’s recognition marks SOFA’s second consecutive appearance on the esteemed list, having first been honored in 2022. Judith Gabasa, representing SOFA, expressed pride in this remarkable achievement. Additionally, the organization was also lauded at the Philippine Cacao Quality Awards 2022.
Auro Chocolate celebrated this achievement on their Facebook page, underscoring the significance of this recognition for a new Philippine cacao origin.
The journey for SOFA at the Cacao of Excellence Awards continues, as they advance to the final stage where the top three producers will be selected. The final winners will be announced at the Chocoa event in Amsterdam on February 8, 2024.
