Philippine pride Manny Pacquiao inducted into International Boxing Hall of Fame

Manny Pacquiao, one of the most celebrated boxers in history and a beloved icon in the Philippines, has been inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame Class of 2025. The announcement was made on Thursday.

Known for his lightning-fast footwork and blistering punch combinations, Pacquiao secured world championships across an unprecedented eight weight divisions, from flyweight to super welterweight. Over his illustrious 72-fight career, he achieved 62 wins, eight losses, and two draws before retiring from the ring in 2021.

Beyond boxing, the 45-year-old Filipino southpaw built a multifaceted legacy as a politician, philanthropist, and entertainer. A former senator and a presidential candidate in 2022, Pacquiao is also the first Filipino athlete to be featured on a postage stamp and was named one of Time magazine’s 100 most influential people in 2009.

“I am so happy that I have been selected to enter the International Boxing Hall of Fame. This certainly is a wonderful Christmas gift,” Pacquiao said in a statement. “Throughout my career, as a professional fighter and a public servant, it has been my goal to bring honor to my country, The Philippines, and my fellow Filipinos around the world.”
