Philippine Pavilion draws over 40,000 visitors in first nine days at Expo 2025 Osaka

The Philippine Pavilion at Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan has drawn more than 40,000 visitors in just over a week since its opening on April 13, the Department of Tourism (DOT) announced.

A total of 40,252 guests visited the immersive pavilion in its first nine days, which Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco described as “a triumphant debut for the Philippines.”

“The remarkable turnout of 40,252 visitors in just nine days is a resounding affirmation of the strength of our story, the power of our people, and the beauty of our culture,” Frasco said in an ABS-CBN News report. “This is more than an exhibition. It is a movement of culture, connection, and creativity that brings the Philippines to the world stage in a way we have never seen before.”

Showcasing the theme “Nature, Culture and Community: Woven Together for a Better Future,” the pavilion features 212 handwoven fabrics representing the regions of the country. It invites guests into a multi-sensory journey of Filipino identity using light, sound, and motion.

On its second day, the pavilion welcomed Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad Al Thani, Chairperson of Qatar Museums, who praised the space’s design and storytelling.

Maria Margarita Nograles, Chief Operating Officer of the Tourism Promotions Board, said the team behind the pavilion is focused on giving visitors an unforgettable experience. “Our hope is that every visitor who enters the Pavilion leaves inspired to discover the Philippines firsthand for at the heart of our country is our greatest strength—our people,” she said.

Frasco added, “This Pavilion is our invitation to the world to feel the warmth of our hospitality, to be awed by the wonder of our islands, and to connect with the soul of our people.”

Expo 2025 Osaka will run until October 13, with the Philippine Pavilion continuing to welcome thousands daily.
