The Philippines has made a significant leap, advancing to 73rd place in the ranking of the world’s most powerful passports in the latest update of the Henley Passport Index. This marks a notable improvement from its 75th position in 2023, showcasing the country’s enhanced global mobility.
The recent ranking allows Philippine passport holders visa-free access to 69 destinations worldwide, an increase from the 67 destinations accessible as of January 2023. This achievement places the Philippines on par with nations like Cape Verde Islands and Uganda in terms of travel freedom.
The top of the list sees a European dominance, with France, Germany, Italy, and Spain jointly holding the title for the world’s most powerful passports. Citizens of these countries enjoy the privilege of traveling visa-free to 194 destinations.
In a close tie for the top spot are Singapore and Japan, also granting their passport holders access to 194 destinations without a visa. Following closely are Finland, Sweden, and South Korea, all tied for the second position. Austria, Denmark, Ireland, and the Netherlands share the third spot in this prestigious ranking.
Meanwhile, the United Kingdom occupies the fourth place. Completing the top five are Greece, Malta, and Switzerland, highlighting the continued strength of European passports in facilitating global mobility.
