Professors from the Faculty of Behavioral and Social Sciences (FBESS) at Philippine Normal University, representing both the Manila and North Luzon campuses, are in the UAE for a week-long benchmarking activity with various higher education institutions in the country. Led by Associate Dean Dr. Zyralie Bedural, the delegation visited academic teams from the Demont Institute of Management and Technology and Middlesex University Dubai, exploring potential collaborations for teacher education as part of PNU’s internationalization program.
The delegates enjoyed an enriching experience as they explored the dynamic educational landscape of the UAE, learning from its practices and innovations in the region’s education sector. A key highlight of their visit was a training workshop for Filipino teachers at The Philippine School—Dubai, which proved to be a success. Topics covered included the Matatag Curriculum, a review of EDCOM 2 findings, and Global Citizenship Education (GCED).
As part of their visit, they attended a gathering organized by interim President Mr. Bethoven Filomeno, where they connected with PNU alumni in the UAE. This provided valuable insights into the journeys and experiences of OFW educators, contributing to the delegation’s ongoing research.
The team also paid a courtesy visit to the Philippine Consulate General, where they were warmly welcomed by Consul General Marford Angeles and Vice-Consul Jim Jimeno. The visit to the PCG in Dubai was particularly meaningful, as it offered the PNU faculty insights into the contributions of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) to the growth of the UAE and celebrated the success stories of these individuals in the Emirates.
