The Philippine government has officially notified the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) regarding the case of dismissed Bamban Mayor Alice Guo, who allegedly fled the country last month amid mounting legal issues. According to Senator Risa Hontiveros, Guo is now believed to be in Indonesia.
In a press conference, Hontiveros revealed that the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has also reported the passports of Guo, her siblings Wesley and Sheila, and Cassandra Ong to both the Philippine Center on Transnational Crime and Interpol for appropriate action. This development allows Interpol to assess and determine the necessary steps, which could include issuing a Red Notice for Guo’s location and arrest.
The involvement of Interpol, according to Hontiveros, indicates that the net is tightening around Guo and her family, as international law enforcement agencies begin to take notice. President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. had previously stated that “heads will roll” over Guo’s alleged escape.
Guo, who was accused of supporting the operation of an illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) hub in Bamban, has consistently denied the accusations. Her lawyer insists that she remains in the Philippines, based on their recent conversation.
