The Philippine Embassy in Qatar has called on Filipinos in the country to remain calm and alert following an Israeli airstrike that targeted Hamas leaders in Doha.
In an official advisory, the embassy stated, “In view of recent developments in Doha, the Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines in the State of Qatar urges all Filipino nationals to remain calm, monitor news from credible sources, and heed the advice of local authorities.” It also reminded citizens to stay indoors and avoid public areas unless absolutely necessary.
The call for caution came after Reuters reported that Israel carried out a targeted strike on Hamas officials in Qatar on Tuesday. The move marks a sharp expansion of Israel’s military campaign, which has already reached multiple parts of the Middle East.
Qatar, a long-standing host of Hamas’ political office and a key mediator in ceasefire negotiations along with Egypt, denounced the attack as “cowardly” and a direct violation of international law.
Sources within Hamas told Reuters that members of the group’s ceasefire negotiation team survived the strike. Israeli officials confirmed the operation aimed to target top Hamas figures, including Khalil al-Hayya, a senior leader in exile and chief negotiator for Gaza.
