The Philippine Embassy in Kuwait expressed shock and sadness over the death of a Kuwaiti child, allegedly at the hands of a Filipino domestic worker.
“We extend our heartfelt condolences and prayers to the bereaved family during this difficult time,” the embassy stated on Saturday.
According to a report by the Arab Times, the incident occurred at the residence of the child’s family, where the domestic worker allegedly placed the young boy inside a washing machine. Despite his parents’ efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.
The embassy emphasized its full cooperation with Kuwaiti authorities in investigating the matter, describing it as an “isolated” incident.
“This isolated incident does not reflect the character of Filipinos and the Filipino community in Kuwait, who are recognized for their hard work, reliability, and positive contribution to society,” the statement read.
The embassy also assured that it is providing assistance to the detained domestic worker in accordance with Kuwaiti law.
