Philippine Consulate in Dubai repatriates 732 Filipinos since start of UAE amnesty program

In a joint effort, the Philippine Consulate General in Dubai, the Migrant Workers Office, and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) successfully repatriated 35 Filipino nationals from Dubai and the Northern Emirates, raising the total number of repatriated Filipinos to 732 since the program’s launch in September.

Through the UAE’s Amnesty Program, these individuals, who had accumulated fines from overstaying or absconding, were given the opportunity to return home with their penalties waived. The Philippine government provided essential assistance to the repatriates, covering airfare and necessary consular documentation, while also helping those with special cases secure exit passes.

Consul General Marford M. Angeles led the consular team at the airport to ensure a smooth check-in and immigration process for the repatriates. Upon arrival in Manila, these individuals will receive financial aid from the Philippine government as part of their reintegration support.

The UAE government recently extended the amnesty period until 31 December 2024. Philippine Ambassador to the UAE, H.E. Alfonso A. Ver, expressed deep gratitude to UAE authorities for this extension, encouraging eligible Filipinos to regularize their status or avail themselves of the repatriation program if necessary.

One Country Team UAE will continue to offer comprehensive consular services, including repatriation support, to assist Filipinos taking advantage of the amnesty initiative until the program concludes.
