Philippine consul general highlights global Filipino excellence ahead of Icon Awards

The enduring values and global contributions of Filipinos worldwide were highlighted by Philippine Consul General in Dubai Ambrosio Brian F. Enciso III as he shared a message of support for the Global Filipino Icon Awards 2026, which will be held on January 31 in Dubai.

In his statement for the special edition of The Global Filipino Magazine, Enciso described the Filipino journey as one defined by courage, imagination, and quiet excellence, noting that Filipino identity is shaped not by geography but by values carried across borders.

“The Filipino story has always been one of courage, imagination, and quiet excellence,” Enciso said. “Wherever Filipinos go, we bring with us a strong sense of purpose, an ethic of hard work, and a commitment to uplift others.”

The Global Filipino Icon Awards, now on its sixth edition, recognizes Filipinos from different parts of the world whose work and leadership have created impact across industries, including the arts, public service, entrepreneurship, education, science, and community development. The annual event brings together awardees, dignitaries, and guests from the Philippines, the Middle East, North America, Europe, and Oceania.

Enciso said the awards serve as a reminder that success gains deeper meaning when it is rooted in service and responsibility. He emphasized that Filipino excellence is reflected not only in visibility or scale, but in perseverance, compassion, and adaptability—qualities seen among overseas Filipino workers, professionals, creatives, and community leaders.

He also underscored the importance of the Emerging Global Filipino Icon category, which honors rising Filipino leaders selected through a deliberation process. According to Enciso, the category represents a new generation of Filipinos who are globally engaged yet firmly grounded in their roots, demonstrating leadership earned through service and consistency.

As the awards night approaches, the consul general reminded the Filipino community that recognition carries responsibility, encouraging honorees to continue mentoring others and using their influence with humility.

“To our kababayan abroad, know that your efforts matter,” Enciso said. “You are an essential part of our national story.”

The Global Filipino Icon Awards 2026 will take place on January 31 in Dubai, recognizing Filipino trailblazers and emerging leaders from across the globe.
