The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) is gearing up for a busy month, expecting around 2.2 million passengers to pass through the airports it manages. CAAP spokesperson Eric Apolonio, in a recent televised briefing, assured the public of the authority’s readiness to provide ample support and assistance at these airports.
To cater to the needs of travelers, Apolonio highlighted the availability of help desks at airports for those requiring assistance or having queries. “We have many personnel who could assist. We have those on standby in case more people are needed. The area managers were also instructed to assist the passengers,” he stated, ensuring a smooth experience for passengers.
Emphasizing the importance of addressing passenger concerns, Apolonio advised individuals with complaints to approach the help desks. In a collaborative effort to maintain safety and security, all 44 CAAP airports are on heightened alert, working closely with the Philippine National Police Aviation Security Group and the Office for Transportation Security.
This December’s passenger volume is expected to see a 7 to 10 percent increase year-on-year, with about 2.2 million passengers using the CAAP airports, compared to 2 million in December 2022. Apolonio noted an increase in local tourism, attributing it to the convenience and speed of air travel, coupled with promotional airfares making flights more affordable.
Apolonio also reminded the public to avoid bringing prohibited items in hand-carry luggage to prevent any hassles. He further advised passengers to arrive at the airport at least three hours before their flight, ensuring a stress-free and efficient travel experience during the holiday rush.
