Philippine Airlines (PAL) announces the commencement of nonstop flights between Manila and Seattle starting October 2, 2024, marking a significant milestone as the first carrier to directly connect the Philippines with the U.S. Pacific Northwest.
Seattle becomes PAL’s sixth destination in the United States and the eighth in North America, strengthening its position as the airline with the largest network of nonstop flights between the Philippines and the United States. The new route aims to stimulate both business and leisure travel between the two regions.
The airline’s decision to launch the Manila-Seattle service reflects the growing travel demand, with over 900,000 Americans visiting the Philippines in 2023, making the U.S. the country’s second-largest source of tourists.
The three-times-weekly service will initially operate every Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday, providing convenient departures from Manila’s Terminal 1 and Seattle Tacoma International Airport.
Seattle, renowned as a high-tech business hub and a gateway to various population centers in Washington and Oregon, is home to a significant Filipino American community of over 240,000 people. The new route is expected to facilitate travel for both Filipino Americans visiting friends and family in the region and U.S. residents exploring the Philippines.
PAL President and Chief Operating Officer, Captain Stanley K. Ng, expressed the airline’s enthusiasm, stating, “Philippine Airlines is happy to say, ‘Mabuhay, Seattle!’ We are proud to welcome Seattle to our growing U.S. route network.”
The launch of this route coincides with planned upgrades to Manila’s Ninoy Aquino International Airport, as noted by Philippine Transportation Secretary Jaime J. Bautista, further enhancing travel and tourism between the Philippines and the United States.
To celebrate the inauguration of the Manila-Seattle service, PAL is offering special introductory roundtrip fares, available until April 30, 2024, for travel between October 2 and November 30, 2024, as well as from February 1 to March 22, 2025.
Travelers interested in availing of these fares can visit the PAL website, mobile app, or contact their preferred travel agent for booking details.
The new service is expected to boost trade and economic activity between the U.S. and Asia, with Seattle becoming PAL’s eighth destination in North America. The airline plans to deploy Boeing 777-300ER aircraft for the Seattle route, offering full-flat seats in Business Class and PAL’s renowned inflight service.
