The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) has released more than PHP195.21 billion in benefit claims during the first eight months of 2025, marking a sharp increase from the previous year.
In an advisory on Thursday, the state insurer reported that this year’s payouts rose by 84.35 percent compared to the same period in 2024. Data showed that private health facilities received PHP114.63 billion of the total amount, while government-run institutions were granted PHP80.58 billion.
For comparison, PhilHealth disbursed a combined PHP105.89 billion in the same months of 2024—PHP58.94 billion to private hospitals and PHP46.95 billion to public facilities.
The corporation said the surge in disbursements reflects the higher demand for health services and its continuing effort to provide timely reimbursements to medical institutions. PhilHealth underscored that the increase plays a vital role in widening access to essential healthcare services for Filipinos, consistent with the Bagong Pilipinas vision of faster and more reliable health service delivery.
