Phase 4 of Al Shindagha Corridor to accelerate Dubai traffic, cutting travel from 104 to 16 minutes

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced that 45% of the construction work for the first contract of Phase 4 of the Al Shindagha Corridor Improvement Project is complete. The project stretches 4.8 km from Sheikh Rashid Road at Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Street to the Falcon Intersection on Al Mina Street, featuring three new bridges designed to accommodate 19,400 vehicles per hour.

His Excellency Mattar Al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the RTA, emphasized the project’s importance. “The Al Shindagha Corridor Improvement Project aims to facilitate free traffic movement, enhance capacity, and improve traffic safety,” he stated. The project includes a 1335-metre-long bridge, and two additional bridges measuring 780 metres and 985 metres, respectively, enhancing connectivity across several key roads.

Al Tayer highlighted the comprehensive nature of the project, noting, “Apart from the bridges, the project encompasses road constructions, improvements at surface intersections, and enhancements in street lighting, traffic systems, and drainage facilities.”

The project, initiated under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and monitored by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, is one of RTA’s largest undertakings. “It’s designed to serve around one million residents and will significantly reduce travel time from 104 minutes to just 16 minutes by 2030,” Al Tayer added.

Additional phases of the project have already seen the completion of major infrastructure developments, including multiple new bridges and the Infinity Bridge, which features a globally unique architectural design with a 42-metre-high infinity-shaped arch.
