The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) has confirmed that six of its employees from various airports across the country tested positive for illegal drug use during a months-long random testing drive.
From February to August 2025, CAAP conducted surprise drug tests on 1,703 personnel assigned in 14 CAAP-operated airports. Out of the total, six individuals yielded positive results: one from General Santos International Airport, three from Butuan Airport, one from Ozamiz Airport, and one from Bacolod-Silay Airport.
The regulator said those found using illegal substances will face immediate dismissal from service. It emphasized that strict accountability measures remain in place to ensure aviation safety.
In a statement, CAAP stressed its commitment to protecting passengers, declaring: “CAAP assures the flying public that every flight within Philippine airspace is supported by a capable, drug-free workforce committed to the highest standards of aviation safety.”
The aviation body reiterated that safeguarding lives and preserving public trust will always be at the core of its operations.
