The Overseas Workers Welfare Association (OWWA) successfully facilitated the repatriation of 140 distressed overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) from Kuwait as part of a joint repatriation program. This operation was orchestrated in collaboration with the Department of Migrant Workers, emphasizing the government’s unyielding support for its citizens working abroad, especially those undergoing hardships.
On arrival at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminals 1 and 3, the workers were warmly greeted by the OWWA airport team, manifesting a sense of belonging and assurance of safety. This welcome is a testament to the country’s commitment to safeguarding the rights and welfare of its migrant workforce.
In the bid to extend immediate relief and support, the OWWA ensured the returning OFWs were provided with meals, comfortable lodging in hotels, and facilitated transportation arrangements for them to reach their respective provinces. This initiative prioritizes the well-being of the repatriated individuals, offering them a smooth transition back to their home soil.
Furthermore, OWWA administered financial assistance to address their immediate needs, a move that not only alleviates their concerns but also fosters a supportive environment for them, allowing a sigh of relief as they step back into their homeland.
