Amid the ongoing conflict in Israel, the Philippine Embassy in the country has recommended the indefinite suspension of all travel from the Philippines to Israel. The embassy cited the unstable security conditions, advising travelers to defer their trips until further notice.
On Sunday, the embassy released a statement instructing those with confirmed flights to liaise with their respective travel agencies to confirm the status of their trips.
Furthermore, following the recent deadly attacks instigated by the Hamas terrorist group, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) reported that six Filipinos are presently unaccounted for. Two Filipinos suffered injuries during the evacuation process, with one being treated for moderate injuries in Be’ersheva and another for smoke inhalation in Tel Aviv.
The DFA has successfully coordinated the rescue and evacuation of 20 Filipinos to safer zones. However, attempts to contact six Filipinos through mobile and social media have been unsuccessful. The embassy, in collaboration with Israeli security authorities and local community contacts, is vigorously trying to determine their status.
Additionally, there are unverified reports of a Filipino man being held captive by the terrorist group. The DFA highlighted a distressing claim wherein a Filipina recognized her husband in a social media video that depicted a man detained by armed individuals, suggesting he might have been taken to Gaza.
