PH Embassy in Singapore warns Filipinos against new loan shark scam

The Philippine Embassy in Singapore has alerted the Filipino community about a new scheme involving loan sharks who falsely claim affiliation with the embassy to obtain personal and employment information.

In its advisory issued on October 10, 2025, the embassy emphasized that it “never asks for personal information through calls, texts, or video calls, especially from individuals not employed by the Embassy.” It warned that using the embassy’s name or logo without authorization constitutes a serious offense that may lead to legal penalties.

Filipinos in Singapore are urged to stay vigilant and avoid sharing sensitive information with unverified sources. Those who receive suspicious messages or calls are advised to report immediately to the embassy.
