A 13-member delegation from the Philippines is gearing up to represent their country in the upcoming UAE SWAT Challenge scheduled for February. The Philippine delegates, hailing from the Philippine National Police’s 84th Special Action Company – Rapid Deployment Battalion, will face off against 81 other SWAT teams from 70 different countries during the challenging event hosted by Dubai Police.
The competition, slated to run from February 3 to 7, will put the skills and expertise of these elite law enforcement officers to the test in a series of tactical and operational challenges. Department of the Interior and Local Government Secretary Benhur Abalos expressed his confidence in the Philippine team, emphasizing their role as ambassadors for the nation.
Abalos encouraged the Philippine team, saying, “This team will symbolize our country. You are the best of the best. The bravery, expertise, and heart of Filipinos is unlike any other.” As a token of support, Abalos pledged to provide P50,000 to each member of the delegation.
In addition to striving for victory, Abalos stressed the importance of learning from the police advancements of other participating countries. He underlined the significance of international competitions as a platform for growth and knowledge-sharing, saying, “Life is a continuous learning process. A good way of learning is being exposed to international competitions. In this competition, take note of the advancements made by other countries. This will not only help bolster ours but will also be instrumental in saving lives in the future.”
