PH airports welcome over 7.8 million travelers in first half of 2025

The Philippines saw an 8 percent uptick in passenger arrivals during the first half of 2025, according to the Bureau of Immigration (BI), marking a steady rebound for the country’s tourism industry.

BI Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado announced Monday that from January to June, a total of 7,840,728 arrivals were recorded across the country’s ports of entry—an increase from 7,268,465 during the same period last year.

“This steady growth is proof that the Philippines remains a top destination in the region,” Viado said in a statement, emphasizing the role of streamlined immigration efforts in boosting tourism.

Travelers from the United States topped the list with 753,544 arrivals, closely followed by South Korea with 745,623. Japan, China, and Australia rounded out the top five source countries, contributing 256,776, 229,915, and 188,082 arrivals, respectively.

Viado credited the increase to the national government’s achievements, which he said will be further highlighted by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. in his upcoming address. “As gateways to the country, we in the Bureau of Immigration are proud to do our part in supporting this momentum—through efficient and secure immigration processing for all travelers,” he added.

The BI chief also reaffirmed the bureau’s commitment to continuous enhancements, working closely with other government agencies to ensure the Philippines remains a compelling destination for global tourists.
