PCG warns Filipinas in Hong Kong against surrogate job scam leading to abuse

The Philippine Consulate General (PCG) in Hong Kong has issued a warning to Filipina workers, particularly those recently terminated, about a dangerous job scheme offering surrogacy roles abroad that has reportedly led to cases of abuse.

According to the PCG, certain groups have been targeting vulnerable Filipinas by luring them with promises of high-paying surrogate mother jobs in countries like Georgia. The scheme allegedly begins by persuading terminated domestic workers to return to Hong Kong, only to be transported next to countries like the United Arab Emirates or Qatar, and finally to Georgia.

Once in Georgia, however, disturbing reports have surfaced. Instead of legitimate employment, some women have allegedly fallen victim to rape and forced abortion, based on information received by the consulate.

The PCG urges Filipinas to remain vigilant and avoid offers that seem too good to be true, especially those involving relocation to unfamiliar destinations under vague or suspicious arrangements. Authorities are investigating the matter and working to ensure the safety of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).
