The Philippine Consulate General in Dubai has issued a public advisory urging Filipinos in Dubai and the Northern Emirates to be vigilant against illegal recruitment schemes targeting low-skilled workers. The warning comes amid reports of unscrupulous individuals deploying Filipinos to countries with existing deployment bans, including Pakistan, using tourist visas under false employment promises.
The Consulate emphasized that any recruitment process bypassing official regulations is considered illegal. “We urge our fellow Filipinos to be cautious and avoid engaging with individuals or entities offering jobs in countries with deployment bans, whether in person or through online platforms,” the advisory stated.
Filipinos are strongly encouraged to verify the legitimacy of recruitment agencies by consulting the list of licensed agencies published on the Department of Migrant Workers’ official website (https://dmw.gov.ph/licensed-recruitment-agencies).
The Consulate called on the community to report any suspicious recruitment activities to the proper authorities, reinforcing the importance of safeguarding Filipinos from exploitation.
