Pastor Quiboloy surrenders to authorities to prevent further violence in KOJC compound, lawyer explains

Pastor Apollo Quiboloy voluntarily surrendered to authorities on Sunday, reportedly to prevent further “lawless violence” inside the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) compound in Davao City, according to the church’s legal counsel, Atty. Israelito Torreon.

In a Facebook statement, Torreon described Quiboloy’s decision as an “ultimate sacrifice,” highlighting that he could no longer endure the suffering of his congregation during the police’s search operations at the compound. Torreon emphasized that the church had been transformed into a “police garrison” and “desecrated” following the enforcement of a search warrant.

Quiboloy had been out of reach while awaiting the outcome of legal remedies his lawyers pursued, but he ultimately chose to surrender despite his right to await further developments. Torreon noted that Quiboloy acted to end the distress within the church and surrendered to both the Philippine National Police (PNP) and Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).

Earlier this year, Quiboloy made headlines when he accused the Marcos administration and the United States of conspiring to eliminate him. He is currently facing charges of sex trafficking, fraud, child abuse, and human trafficking, with arrest warrants issued by the US and two Philippine courts. He remains in the custody of the PNP, housed in its custodial facility.
