A Southwest Airlines flight faced an unexpected evacuation after a mobile phone battery caught fire, igniting a seat just before takeoff.
The incident occurred on November 15 at Denver International Airport while Flight 3316 was still at the gate, according to a report by PEOPLE Magazine. All 108 passengers were swiftly evacuated as the crew worked to extinguish the flames.
Passengers at the back of the plane exited via emergency slides, while those seated in the front used the main cabin door, a spokesperson for the airline confirmed.
Southwest Airlines assured travelers that they were rebooked on another aircraft to continue their journeys. The airline also stated they are in contact with affected passengers and are cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
