A Jetstar passenger caused chaos shortly after landing at Melbourne Airport by opening the emergency exit door and jumping out of the plane. The incident occurred on Thursday morning when the JQ507 flight from Sydney had just touched down at around 10 a.m.
According to witnesses, the man, believed to be in his 30s, ignored instructions from flight attendants to remain seated. Instead, he opened the emergency exit door, deployed the evacuation slide, and exited the plane via the right wing of the A320-200 aircraft.
Amid the commotion, fellow passengers reportedly pleaded with the man to stay seated, but he appeared agitated and unresponsive. Ground staff quickly restrained him after he slid down the evacuation slide.
Jetstar confirmed the event, stating that the plane was parked at the gate when the passenger activated the emergency exit. The man was subsequently arrested by the Australian Federal Police (AFP). All other passengers disembarked safely.
One passenger described the scene as tense, with several people attempting to restrain the man before he made his escape. The incident left many on board shaken, particularly those seated near the emergency exit.
