A partial lunar eclipse will occur on September 18, 2024, and will be visible in regions including Europe, most of Asia, Africa, the Americas, and parts of the Pacific, Atlantic, and Indian Oceans, as well as at the North and South Poles, according to reports from TASS news agency.
This eclipse is classified as partial because only a portion of the moon will be obscured by the Earth’s shadow. The event is expected to last approximately 4.5 hours.
Lunar and solar eclipses happen about twice a year, with an interval of two weeks between them. These cosmic events occur when the sun, Earth, and moon align. A lunar eclipse happens when Earth is positioned between the sun and the moon, while a solar eclipse occurs when the moon is in the middle.
