Paris airport closes two runways to capture runaway dog

Two runways at Paris Charles-de-Gaulle Airport were temporarily closed on Tuesday as authorities intensified efforts to capture a dog that escaped from an aircraft a week ago, officials confirmed.

The dog, which slipped out of its carrier during unloading operations last Tuesday, belongs to an Austrian tourist who arrived in France from Vienna on an Air France flight. Despite multiple sightings, the animal has evaded capture, prompting authorities to deploy a search drone.

Air France stated that search teams have approached the dog several times but have yet to subdue it. Airport officials plan to tranquilize the animal once they can get close enough. The operation was scheduled during off-peak hours to minimize disruption to flights.

Efforts to locate the dog include nighttime searches involving its owner and posters alerting airport staff. Air France is covering the owner’s hotel stay near the airport during the ongoing search.

Paris Charles-de-Gaulle, one of Europe’s busiest airports, continues its operations while balancing the intensive search for the missing pet.
